Last Monday, I have to accompany my parents to apply for their retirement so we went to the nearest Social Security Administration office to apply. My dad is already sixty five years old and my mom is sixty three years old. If they waited until they hit their next birthday, the additional income is only around thirty dollars per month. The social worker convince them to apply now instead of waiting until their next birthday so they can enjoy the money now.
My mom is also suffering from a disability so we also asked if she can apply for social security disability. Well, the social worker told her that it would give her an additional five hundred dollars a month if she gets approve. Actually, hers would be considered SSI. She will need to fill out the application form and an analyst will review her case. She will then be sent to the SSA designated doctor that would check up my mom. Of course, they will not rely on your own physician’s testimony.
