Being frugal means trying to save money as much as you can. This means not only on the household items such as food, detergents, medicines but also on auto supplies such as starters, alternators, power steering rack, etc.

If your car is brand new, it is always recommended to purchase original parts for your car to function properly. The extra cost is worth the investment. However, if your car is already old or at least ten years old, it would be probably cost effective to purchase after market automotive parts.

One way to save money and also use original parts is by going to the junkyard and obtaining the parts yourself. There are a lot of parts that are still in good working condition that you can purchase there. There are probably some fairly new cars that are stored in the junkyard.
